Perfect dream wedding ruined by flood of amateur guest photos – “Utterly unflattering images”

Melbourne, VICTORIA—A newlywed couple have returned from their honeymoon to find themselves tagged in an overwhelming amount of unflattering amateur wedding photos.

James and Melissa Harris, a pair of high school sweethearts, were married on 28 December, 2015, and – at time of writing – had just returned to Australia after their honeymoon in the Maldives.

Friends and family reported that the couple were overjoyed at how the wedding turned out, remarking that it was “a truly beautiful occasion”.

“James organised the wedding just the way I wanted it,” Melissa said. “I had always dreamed of a large wedding. The venue, food, guests, everything – it all came together.”

On their island getaway, the couple chose to stay at the 5-star Gili Lankanfushi beach resort, during which they underwent a self-imposed social media ban.

“It was really important to us to not have any distractions,” James shared. “We put our phones away and found that it helped us to enjoy our surroundings – and most importantly, each other.”

However, when the new Harris family got back from their trip, they discovered their Facebook accounts had been swamped with photo tag notifications, totalling over 1,200 between the couple.

Wedding guests reportedly uploaded at least 400 photos of Melissa walking down the aisle; most of these pictures captured the bride at unflattering angles, with some users uploading 4 to 5 versions of the same shot.

Furthermore, at least 70 percent of the photos were out of focus, badly lit or ill-composed – some pictures even had hands or heads of guests taking up the majority of the frame.

Melissa is now considering cutting ties with many of the guests who attended their wedding, expressing their annoyance at this development, even describing her wedding as the "worst day of [her] life".
